Easy is the gentlest of our four levels. It is a good place to start if you have never played a word search before, and a good place to unwind if you have. A new grid is made every time you press New game, using one of our word lists, so you can keep going for as long as you like.
What to expect on Easy
- Grid: 10 rows and 10 columns, 100 letters in all.
- Words: 8, between 3 and 8 letters long.
- Directions: across (left to right) and down (top to bottom) only.
- Crossings: rare. Most words sit on their own, so finding one does not give away another.
Because words only run two ways, the quickest method is to read each row from left to right, then each column from top to bottom. You will find almost every word on the first sweep.
Ready for more?
When Easy starts to feel quick, try Medium on the main Word Search page. It adds diagonals and a bigger grid but still nothing backwards. After that comes Hard, where words can run in all eight directions.
